Director, Resilience & Climate Action Department

About the role

The Director leads the Resilience and Climate Action Department, setting strategic direction and ensuring resources for eight thematic areas, including climate change, environment, fragility, disaster risk management, emergency relief, NGOs/CSOs, women empowerment and youth development across member countries.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑level leadership and strategic guidance for the Climate Change & Environment, Fragility and Resilience, and Women & Youth Empowerment divisions.
• Develop and oversee annual planning, KPIs and results aligned with the Bank’s corporate strategy.
• Coordinate development solutions and upstream advisory work with internal expertise centers and external partners.
• Lead policy implementation, portfolio monitoring and integration of indicators, metrics and analytical tools.
• Represent the Bank in external partnerships, enhancing visibility and nurturing networks with NGOs, CSOs and third‑sector actors.
• Ensure cross‑pillar collaboration to disseminate knowledge and support project implementation.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in climate change, environment, resilience, disaster risk management or related development fields.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage large‑scale programs.
• Strong understanding of international development policies, social safeguards and partnership strategies.
• Experience working with governments, NGOs, civil society and multilateral institutions.
