Evasion Lead Investigator

About the role

The Evasion Lead Investigator will oversee and coordinate customs evasion investigations, ensuring alignment with ZATCA’s strategic objectives. This senior position involves developing operational plans, managing investigator rotations, and delivering comprehensive analysis of fraud cases.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement investigation operational plans in line with organizational strategy.
• Set and manage investigators’ rotation schedules to ensure coverage of all risk areas.
• Review, classify, and prioritize investigation cases, creating system entries for each.
• Conduct in‑depth investigations of customs evasion, fraud, and regulatory breaches using techniques such as post‑clearance review, declaration analysis, valuation checks, and restriction assessments.
• Collaborate with internal auditors and other stakeholders to gather evidence and determine root causes.
• Evaluate investigation activities for consistency, recommend standardization improvements, and ensure compliance with guidelines.
• Monitor investigator performance, provide feedback, and initiate corrective actions when needed.
• Handle objections and appeals, reassessing decisions within defined deadlines and procedures.
• Prepare final assessment reports, highlight trends, and deliver performance summaries to relevant parties.

Required profile

• Proven experience in customs or fraud investigation, preferably at a senior or lead level.
• Strong analytical abilities to assess complex cases and identify risk patterns.
• Excellent organizational skills for planning, scheduling, and managing multiple investigations simultaneously.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and handle escalated issues.
• Effective communication skills for reporting findings and coordinating with auditors and stakeholders.
