Event Design Engineer

About the role

Aggreko is hiring an Event Design Engineer based in Riyadh. Working closely with customers, consultants, production companies, venue operators and internal stakeholders, you will turn their project requirements into safe, reliable and commercially effective engineering solutions. As the technical representative for Aggreko's KSA Events business, you will support major and complex event opportunities, ensuring designs meet customer needs as well as Aggreko and international engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop temporary power and temperature control solutions for small to large-scale events across the Middle East.
• Drive technical conversations with customers and key stakeholders to understand requirements and turn them into practical engineering solutions.
• Support projects from concept and customer engagement through detailed engineering, equipment selection, tender support, installation and delivery.
• Design power packages suited to project needs and maximise use of Aggreko fleet products.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, consultants, production companies and industry partners.
• Produce design packs including single-line diagrams (SLDs), site layout drawings, calculations, bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with Aggreko and international standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practices, including IEC, IEEE, NEC and local regulations.
• Carry out complete engineering handover to Project Management and Operations, communicating installation requirements and technical risks.
• Support strategic bids, tenders and major customer opportunities, and collaborate with the Engineering Team throughout the project life cycle.
• Work regularly outside normal hours to meet the demands of the events industry, and comply with Aggreko's health, safety and environmental policies.

Required profile

• Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree.
• At least 5 years of design experience in a power generation, utility, oil and gas or similar industry.
• Fluent English; a second language is an advantage.
• Relevant experience in electrical or mechanical design engineering, preferably with temporary power and temperature control solutions.
• Experience in the live events industry is preferred.
• Interest in emerging technologies such as BESS, solar and low-carbon power.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience with electrical or mechanical tools and software.
• Strong understanding of generators, LV distribution, protection, earthing and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of HVAC and temperature control systems (chillers, AHUs, pumps, ductwork, cooling calculations) is beneficial.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and customer-facing skills.
