Financial Analyst – Mining Industry

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Financial Analyst to support financial planning, cost control and investment decisions within our mining operations. The role will involve analysing production costs, budgets and capital expenditures to provide insights that drive profitability and strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Design, maintain and continuously improve financial models and reporting systems.
• Gather and reconcile financial and operational data from site production reports, procurement systems, ERP and market sources.
• Analyse operational costs and key financial KPIs to evaluate efficiency, margin trends and risk exposure.
• Prepare budget variance reports, forecasts and financial presentations for executive leadership and site management.
• Support capital project evaluations using NPV, IRR and payback period analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field (MBA, CFA or CPA a plus).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data/financial analysis; experience in mining, manufacturing or heavy industry is a plus.
• Strong analytical, critical‑thinking and communication skills with ability to translate complex data for technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (financial modelling, pivot tables, macros).
• Proficiency with ERP/financial systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Financial statement analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
• Capital budgeting techniques (NPV, IRR, payback period, sensitivity analysis).
• BI/reporting tools – Power BI and Tableau.
