Freelance IT Network Engineer – Fortinet, UniFi, Events & MSP

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Freelance IT Network Engineer to support both managed service provider (MSP) clients and large‑scale event deployments across Saudi Arabia. The role combines day‑to‑day firewall and network configuration with fast‑paced temporary network builds for exhibitions, conferences and sporting events.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, deploy and maintain Fortinet FortiGate firewalls (VPN, NAT, SD‑WAN, firewall policies) for corporate MSP customers.
• Design, install and manage Ubiquiti UniFi wireless networks, including controllers, access points and switches for event sites.
• Provide on‑site troubleshooting, monitoring and support for both permanent and temporary network infrastructures.
• Document network designs, changes and incident reports using tools such as Microsoft Visio.
• Collaborate with project teams to meet tight timelines and high‑pressure event schedules.

Required profile

• Currently residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a valid work or residence visa.
• Minimum two years (24 months) of professional experience in network engineering.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and nights during event build‑ups.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently on field sites.

Required skills

• Fortinet FortiGate firewalls (specify models you have used).
• Ubiquiti UniFi wireless networking and switching.
• VPN configuration, NAT, SD‑WAN, VLANs, routing and DHCP.
• Switching protocols (STP), bonded cellular, Peplink devices.
• Network infrastructure design, DNS, LAN, WAN, subnetting.
• Microsoft Visio for diagramming.
