HSE Auditor – HSE Management Systems & Auditing Specialist

About the role

The HSE Auditor will lead the planning, execution and reporting of health, safety and environmental audits across EPC projects in the oil & gas, petrochemical and refining sectors. This role ensures compliance with company policies, client requirements and international standards while driving continuous improvement of the HSE Management System.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement annual HSE audit plans and schedules.
• Conduct internal, supplier, contractor and site audits to verify compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, client standards and legal requirements.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of HSE policies, procedures and controls.
• Review risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and safe work procedures.
• Perform field inspections and workplace observations to identify unsafe conditions and behaviours.
• Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, non‑conformities, observations and recommendations.
• Monitor corrective and preventive actions to ensure timely closure of audit findings.
• Analyse audit trends and highlight recurring issues for management attention.
• Participate in incident investigations and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Support management reviews, compliance evaluations and external audit preparations.
• Provide guidance and awareness training to project teams on audit requirements.
• Maintain audit records, documentation and compliance databases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or related engineering.
• NEBOSH certification.
• IRCA Lead Auditor certification for ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• 5–7 years of HSE experience in EPC projects, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical or refining.
• Minimum 3 years of experience conducting HSE and integrated management system audits.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple audit assignments.

• Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards
• Familiarity with OSHA standards and international HSE best practices
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques
• Incident investigation methods
• Risk Assessment and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) competency
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
