Infection Prevention & Control Practitioner

About the role

The Infection Prevention & Control Practitioner will lead efforts to reduce healthcare‑associated infections within the hospital. This role combines surveillance, policy development, staff education, and outbreak investigation to ensure compliance with national and international infection control standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct active surveillance of healthcare‑associated infections and analyse trends or outbreaks.
• Develop, implement and evaluate infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
• Provide training to healthcare staff on hand hygiene, PPE use and isolation precautions.
• Investigate infection outbreaks and coordinate corrective actions with multidisciplinary teams.
• Perform audits and inspections to verify compliance with infection control standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation and prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies.
• Support quality‑improvement initiatives and stay updated with Saudi MOH, CBAHI, JCIA, WHO and CDC guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, microbiology, public health or a related healthcare discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in infection prevention and control within a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of infection control principles, surveillance methods and outbreak management.
• Familiarity with Saudi MOH, CBAHI, JCIA, WHO and CDC infection control guidelines.
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or equivalent is preferred.
