Junior Civil Structural Design Review Engineer

About the role

SGS, a global testing, inspection and certification company, is hiring a Junior Civil Structural Design Review Engineer in Riyadh. The position is open only to Saudi nationals and is based on a Saturday-to-Thursday workweek. The engineer reviews structural calculations, drawings and design models under the supervision of senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Review structural calculations, drawings and design models under the supervision of senior engineers.
• Support the Design Review Team in preparing technical reports and deliverables.
• Check that structural designs comply with project requirements, applicable codes and standards.
• Take part in multidisciplinary coordination meetings and project discussions.
• Support site visits, technical assessments and inspections when required.
• Review shop drawings and material submittals for structural works.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders and site teams to collect technical information.
• Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and quantity take-offs.
• Help resolve technical issues found during design review and project execution.
• Maintain project documentation and engineering records.
• Keep up with structural engineering practices and software tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised university.
• Fresh graduate or up to 2 years of experience in structural engineering.
• Fluent Arabic and English, written and spoken.
• Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) or eligibility for registration.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good communication and teamwork, and willingness to learn.
• Preference for candidates who can join immediately.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of reinforced concrete and steel structure design.
• Basic understanding of structural analysis and design principles.
• Preferred: familiarity with AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000 or similar software.
• An advantage: basic knowledge of the Saudi Building Code (SBC).
