Linux Software Engineer – Ubuntu for Next‑Gen Silicon

About the role

Canonical’s Partner Engineering team is looking for Linux Software Engineers to work on Ubuntu for next‑generation silicon. The role is fully remote and supports a range of seniority levels, allowing you to contribute to the optimisation of Ubuntu across new hardware accelerators, AI stacks, confidential computing, networking, virtualization and containerisation technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate proactively within a globally distributed team to deliver high‑quality software.
• Maintain and improve Ubuntu’s silicon‑specific features and packages for servers, HPC, AI, IoT, PCs, SmartNICs and automotive systems.
• Evaluate contributions from other engineers to ensure standards are met.
• Shape Ubuntu’s future by proposing new ideas and advising on cross‑team work.
• Debug open‑source and team‑maintained code, and assist customers in integrating apps, SDKs and building OS images.

Required profile

• Strong enthusiasm for open‑source and Linux stack.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across time zones.
• Experience collaborating with upstream projects, Ubuntu/Debian communities and silicon partners.
• Commitment to delivering a seamless user experience for Ubuntu users.
