Low Current / ELV Technician – Building Systems

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Low Current / ELV Technician to install, test, maintain and troubleshoot extra‑low voltage and low‑current systems in building facilities. The role involves hands‑on work with a variety of ELV technologies to ensure reliable operation and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and repair CCTV cameras, recording equipment and monitors.
• Set up, test and maintain access‑control hardware such as card readers, controllers, magnetic locks and exit devices.
• Perform basic installation and maintenance of fire‑alarm devices, including detectors, call points, sounders and wiring.
• Deploy and maintain structured cabling, patch panels, cabinets, outlets and cable management systems.
• Install and service public‑address, background‑music, intercom, SMATV/IPTV and related ELV systems.
• Trace and resolve cable faults, connectivity issues and device failures.
• Terminate and test cables using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Read and interpret ELV drawings, schematics, cable schedules and wiring diagrams.
• Carry out preventive maintenance inspections and corrective repairs, documenting all activities.
• Follow site safety procedures, permit requirements and PPE guidelines.

Required profile

• Practical hands‑on experience with ELV/low‑current systems in a building or O&M environment.
• Ability to read and understand basic ELV schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Strong attention to safety and compliance with manufacturer recommendations.
• Good teamwork skills to coordinate with supervisors, engineers and other maintenance crews.
