About the role
The LV/MV and Power Systems Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting low‑voltage, medium‑voltage and power generation systems in an industrial environment. The role ensures reliable and safe power supply by working with switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS units and protection equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot LV and MV electrical systems, including switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers and distribution panels.
- Maintain and test power generation and distribution equipment such as generators, UPS systems and power control panels.
- Perform protection relay checks, insulation resistance, continuity and high‑pot testing.
- Execute safe switching operations, enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and follow MV switching authority guidelines.
- Read and interpret single‑line diagrams (SLDs), protection coordination studies and technical documentation.
- Support substation energisation, commissioning and de‑commissioning activities.
- Manage load, monitor power quality and respond to emergency electrical faults.
- Maintain accurate test records, switching logs and maintenance documentation.
Required profile
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or Energy Systems.
- Minimum three years of experience in LV/MV operations and maintenance or power system maintenance in an industrial plant, substation or utility environment.
- Valid electrical safety qualifications and certified competency for MV switching operations.
- Knowledge of protection relay testing, energisation procedures and outage planning.
Required skills
