Material Handler – Production Support

About the role

The Material Handler ensures that production lines run smoothly by maintaining standard work‑in‑progress levels, placing components in their designated locations, and aligning material movement with the line’s flow requirements. This role supports continuous production, visual control, single‑piece flow and Lean standards, guaranteeing operators have the right material at the right time.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain standard WIP levels across the line to support balanced flow and uninterrupted production.
• Place and keep components in correct designated locations throughout the shop floor.
• Ensure single‑piece flow and track piece movement after takt completion.
• Monitor material flow and line status, highlighting issues when cycle time exceeds takt time.
• Support and monitor adherence to Standard Work and Standard Work Combination Sheets.
• Coordinate with operators and supervisors to provide the right materials at the right workstation.
• Support visual management, line organization and 5S standards.
• Identify and communicate continuous‑improvement opportunities related to flow, waste reduction and workplace organization.
• Use shop‑floor systems such as ELM, SmartShop and MyAndon as required.
• Comply with company quality, safety policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Diploma, technical college degree or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Knowledge of production line processes and Lean principles.
• Ability to work within takt time and standard process flow expectations.

Required skills

• Experience with shop‑floor software systems (ELM, SmartShop, MyAndon).
• Understanding of 5S and visual management techniques.
• Familiarity with Standard Work and Standard Work Combination Sheets.
