Mechanical Engineer – Amusement Ride Safety

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead testing, inspection, and safety assessments of amusement rides, including roller coasters, carousels, and tower attractions. The role involves field work at customer sites and amusement parks across Saudi Arabia.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct testing and examination of all types of amusement rides for regulatory compliance.
• Perform strength verifications, risk assessments, and acceptance tests on new and existing installations.
• Carry out regular in‑service inspections and comprehensive assessments of complex ride systems.
• Utilise advanced measurement methods such as strain gauges and g‑force sensors to evaluate system characteristics.
• Develop evaluation criteria and specifications based on interdisciplinary standards and analogical rules.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, providing detailed reports and corrective recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in mechanical engineering or safety inspection.
• Strong interdisciplinary approach and ability to work autonomously in the field.

Required skills

• Knowledge of dynamics and FEM (finite element) calculations.
• Experience with fatigue analysis and strength calculations of machine elements.
• Familiarity with risk assessment standards (ISO 12100).
• Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics systems.
• Proficiency with strain‑gauge and g‑force measurement techniques.
• Optional: Welding engineering (IWE), playground inspection, functional safety engineering (ISO 13849).
