Microbiologist – Environmental Controls & Lab Testing

About the role

SGS is seeking a Microbiologist to support its environmental control and laboratory testing activities in Saudi Arabia. The role involves ensuring sample integrity, identifying microbial contamination, and maintaining compliance with local EHS and environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, validate and maintain protocols for environmental controls.
• Perform microbiological testing on component samples and incoming ingredients, identify contamination sources and initiate corrective actions.
• Document all laboratory activities, maintain accurate records and report non‑conformances.
• Monitor physiological and morphological characteristics of microorganisms and prepare related documentation.
• Carry out routine equipment maintenance, calibration according to the preventive‑maintenance plan, and manage sample storage and disposal.
• Collect samples on‑site and ensure safety by intervening in unsafe acts or conditions.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Microbiology, Environmental Science, Biotechnology or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in microbiological laboratory testing and analysis.
• Good knowledge of EHS standards, occupational health and Saudi Arabian environmental regulations.
