Mortuary Technician

About the role

The Mortuary Technician ensures the dignified, safe and hygienic handling of deceased patients within the hospital morgue. Working under the Admission & Discharge division, the role follows strict Ministry of Health infection‑control protocols and maintains the chain of custody for all bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Receive bodies from clinical wards, verify dual‑identifier tags and record chain of custody in the Morgue Register.
• Monitor and record temperature and humidity levels of cold chambers, reporting any deviations immediately.
• Coordinate terminal cleaning and disinfection of storage units, hydraulic lifts and surfaces using hospital‑grade agents.
• Apply MOH precautions such as shrouding or bagging for high‑risk infectious bodies (e.g., COVID‑19, MERS).
• Assist forensic authorities with body identification and sample preservation when required.
• Release bodies to families or municipal services in a respectful manner.

Required profile

• Diploma or Associate Degree.
• Valid SCFHS registration.
• 0‑2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
• Arabic (advanced) and English (intermediate) language proficiency.
