Network Operations Engineer (NOC) L1

About the role

The Network Operations Engineer (NOC) L1 will monitor and manage critical infrastructure on a 24/7 basis, ensuring high availability for GACA's business needs. The role involves on‑site health checks, ticket handling via an ITSM tool, and coordination with vendors and a Remote Service Delivery Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, manage and report on infrastructure health, capacity and incidents, providing monthly and ad‑hoc reports.
• Log tickets, track them through the ITSM system and provide on‑site support as required, including hardware replacement and firmware upgrades.
• Develop and maintain automated monitoring scripts, align processes with ITIL best practices and ensure SLA compliance.
• Perform proactive console monitoring, troubleshoot firewall, NAC, VPN and load‑balancer issues, and implement preventative measures for self‑healing.

Required profile

• B.S. in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in network operations, monitoring and event management.
• Relevant certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) – Security.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Cisco networking, including routers, switches, firewalls and Cisco ISE.
• Experience with firewall configuration, NAT, rule management, packet capture and log analysis.
• Proficiency in VPN/IPsec troubleshooting and load‑balancer configuration (SSL offloading, health monitors, service weights).
• Hands‑on experience with monitoring tools, ITSM platforms and automated scripting for system health checks.
• Understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes and SLA management.
