Occupational Health Nurse

About the role

The Nurse provides medical care and assistance to employees by treating illness, injuries and health problems, while encouraging participation in health programmes that promote a healthy lifestyle. The position also supports the doctor in carrying out occupational health surveys regularly or daily.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the doctor in all aspects of medicine so that injuries and illnesses are treated adequately, and administer medical services in the medical aid clinic on a daily basis.
• Provide medical care and first aid, including basic life-saving measures when needed, and consult the doctor on delicate conditions.
• Maintain employee records confidentially and ensure medicines and medical equipment are fit for purpose and within their expiry dates; manage calibration of equipment.
• Coordinate work-related injuries and illnesses with the safety officer and HSE personnel for prompt investigation and corrective action.
• Enforce safety and health preventive programmes to control communicable diseases and follow clinical service standard operating procedures.
• Support HSE initiatives, take part in safety awareness activities and contribute to incident reporting and resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 5 years of working experience, 3 years of which must be relevant; 2 years of GCC experience is a plus.
• Sound work ethics.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS/ILS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Medical terminology and conditions, and knowledge of quality improvement and standards of care.
• Knowledge of ILO standards, principles and approaches in occupational health services.
• ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills, is required.
