OFR Operations Specialist – Ocean Freight

About the role

DHL Global Forwarding is looking for an OFR Operations Specialist to join its team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. You will be responsible for managing ocean freight operations, supporting rate and capacity procurement, and driving business growth across key trade lanes.

Key responsibilities

• Build and develop trade‑lane consolidations for South African export traffic.
• Engage with the global DHL network to promote and develop the gateway for neighboring countries and local coastal branches.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day operations within the Airfreight Gateway.
• Assist the ACC Manager with rate and capacity procurement as required.
• Implement OFR Ops/CS plans and processes for internal and external customers.
• Analyse freight control centre requirements and provide detailed operational instructions.
• Allocate and reserve freight on planned line hauls.
• Contribute to product planning for specialised ocean freight segments such as perishables, pharmaceuticals and aviation.
• Identify new business opportunities, conduct client visits and maintain high customer retention.
• Prepare monthly performance reports for management.
• Execute pricing strategy and respond to pricing enquiries efficiently.
• Deliver shipment documentation, support shipping tenders and ensure timely submission of all required paperwork.
• Seek opportunities to improve ocean freight productivity and resource utilisation.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years (72 months) of experience in freight or ocean‑freight operations.
• Proven experience in freight administration, pricing strategy and transport order management.
• Strong analytical abilities to collate data and support operational performance.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation and ability to build lasting client relationships.
• Ability to work collaboratively with global logistics networks.
