Part‑Time Arabic Linguist – AI & TTS

About the role

We are looking for a native‑level Arabic linguist to support our Text‑to‑Speech (TTS) team. You will apply your expertise in Saudi Arabic dialects, especially Najdi, to improve the quality, accuracy and naturalness of our Arabic speech technology.

Key responsibilities

• Research phonological, morphological and syntactic structures of Modern Standard Arabic and Saudi/Gulf dialects, focusing on Najdi.
• Act as the linguistic liaison for the R&D/AI team, translating linguistic requirements into actionable input for engineers.
• Analyze pronunciation data, including grapheme‑to‑phoneme mappings, diacritization and lexicons for Arabic TTS and ASR systems.
• Evaluate TTS output for pronunciation accuracy, prosody, dialect authenticity and naturalness.
• Provide linguistic guidance for Arabic voice data collection, voice talent onboarding and speech synthesis projects.
• Support coordination and review of voice recording, editing and annotation processes to ensure linguistic consistency.

Required profile

• Native proficiency in Arabic with strong command of MSA and Saudi Arabic dialects; Najdi dialect near‑native preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Arabic Language, Translation, or a related field.
• Good command of English for daily communication with the R&D team.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with technical, non‑linguist colleagues.

Required skills

• Arabic phonology and morphology knowledge.
• Familiarity with the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).
• Experience with Text‑to‑Speech (TTS) and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technologies.
• Natural Language Processing (NLP) and computational linguistics background.
• Grapheme‑to‑Phoneme (G2P) conversion and Arabic diacritization (Tashkeel).
• Arabic lexicon development and voice data collection.
• Speech synthesis, voice recording workflows and linguistic quality assurance.
