Pediatric Anesthesia Consultant

About the role

We are looking for a Pediatric Anesthesia Consultant to join a leading tertiary healthcare provider in Saudi Arabia. The consultant will deliver comprehensive anaesthetic care for infants, children and adolescents across a wide range of surgical specialties, ensuring safe peri‑operative management in line with international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide independent pediatric anesthesia for general, neonatal, ENT, orthopaedic, ophthalmic, urological, trauma, oncology and interventional radiology procedures.
• Manage high‑risk patients (ASA III–IV) including complex airway, rapid sequence induction and emergency resuscitation.
• Support NICU and PICU emergencies, pre‑operative optimisation and postoperative pain control.
• Perform and supervise regional and ultrasound‑guided nerve blocks as part of multimodal pain strategies.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical pathway development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to training of junior anaesthesia staff through simulation and competency programmes.
• Ensure compliance with SCFHS, JCI and Ministry of Health regulations and documentation standards.

Required profile

• Western Board certification in Anesthesia (e.g., FRCA, American Board, FRCPC, CIC, FANZCA or equivalent).
• Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia or at least 2‑3 years of tertiary‑level pediatric anesthesia experience.
• Eligibility for SCFHS Consultant classification.
• Proven ability to manage neonatal and pediatric airways, regional techniques and high‑acuity cases.
• Strong communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary paediatric teams.
