Planning Engineer – Construction Scheduling

About the role

The Planning Engineer is part of the shared services team, supporting the construction supervision team with planning, scheduling and progress monitoring to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. The role involves developing schedules, analysing deviations, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Understand work scope, quantities and logical sequence across engineering, manufacturing and construction disciplines.
• Develop and maintain project schedules using MS Project, Primavera and Excel, producing progress charts such as histograms and S‑curves.
• Perform probabilistic and earned‑value analysis to forecast project completion, identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare cost estimates, bar‑chart schedules, manpower and equipment allocations, and extension‑of‑time claims.
• Review and monitor subcontractors’ programmes, material procurement schedules and document submissions.
• Produce dashboards, periodic reports and presentations for management and clients.
• Maintain records of variations, additional works and update project registers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 6 years of planning and scheduling experience, including at least 3‑4 years in the Saudi market.
• Proven experience with reputable consulting engineering firms.
• Certification in project planning and scheduling, preferably Primavera P6 and Primavera Contract Management.
• Ability to prepare cost estimates, extension‑of‑time claims and conduct delay analysis.
