Plant Nursery Biosecurity & Plant Health Manager

About the role

The Plant Nursery Biosecurity & Plant Health Manager will design, implement and maintain a comprehensive biosecurity programme that protects plant health across our nursery and greenhouse sites. This role ensures pest and disease risks are minimised while supporting research, development and production objectives in a fast‑evolving sustainable environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and roll out a site‑wide biosecurity management framework for nursery and greenhouse operations.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for plant health threats, pest entry points and operational vulnerabilities.
• Establish operating procedures for plant movement, sanitation, propagation and waste handling.
• Set up inspection and monitoring schedules for plant health, hygiene and pest management, maintaining accurate documentation and traceability.
• Coordinate internal audits, corrective actions and ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
• Develop and deliver training programmes to promote a proactive biosecurity culture among staff.

Required profile

• Proven experience in plant biosecurity, pest and disease management, or related horticultural fields.
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and mitigation planning.
• Ability to develop and enforce operating procedures and documentation systems.
• Excellent communication skills for training and cross‑functional alignment.
