Plant Operator (Field) – Polyethylene Gas Phase Section

About the role

The Plant Operator (Field) will work on the Polyethylene Gas Phase Section, ensuring safe and efficient operation of the plant. You will be responsible for startup and shutdown activities, routine inspections, and responding to upset conditions while coordinating closely with the console operator and shift supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Perform or assist in plant startup and shutdown according to approved procedures.
• Conduct regular inspections and walk‑throughs to identify malfunctions and report them.
• Respond to emergencies by executing flaring, blowdown, isolation, diversion, and switching actions.
• Collect samples and carry out required chemical and physical tests.
• Support the shift supervisor with communications, work permits, and coordination with contractors or vendors.
• Maintain in‑plant housekeeping and share technical advice with colleagues.
• Monitor the assigned area, take corrective actions within authorized limits, and report issues needing higher‑level support.
• Complete PRC qualification programs (JTS, OCCP) and follow emergency procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 4‑5 years of experience in a petrochemical or refinery environment (Polyethylene or Naphtha).
• Understanding of plant mechanisms, start/stop field operations, and layout.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to implement safety policies.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of instrumentation and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
• Familiarity with Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems.
• Experience with process sampling and chemical/physical testing.
• Ability to perform plant startup and shutdown procedures.
