About the role
The Plant Operator works in the field to support start‑up, shutdown and steady‑state operation of the sulfur recovery section. The role requires close coordination with console operators and shift supervisors to ensure safe and efficient plant performance.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in start‑up and shutdown of plant units following approved procedures.
- Respond to emergency or upset conditions by executing flaring, blowdown, isolation, diversion and switching actions.
- Conduct regular inspections and walk‑throughs, reporting malfunctions to supervisors.
- Record field instrument readings, collect samples and perform required chemical and physical tests.
- Issue work permits, maintain housekeeping standards and provide technical guidance to other field operators.
Required profile
- High school diploma with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a technical diploma with at least 4 years of experience.
- Basic understanding of refinery/petrochemical equipment, mechanisms and plant layout.
- Knowledge of instrument systems and emergency shutdown procedures.
Required skills
- Operation of refinery and petrochemical equipment.
- Reading and interpreting field instrument data.
- Execution of emergency shutdown and safety protocols.
