Power System Engineering Early Career Traineeship

About the role

GE Vernova's Electrification Software - Grid Software is looking for sharp, organized early career trainees to join its 12-month Power System Engineering traineeship in Riyadh. Trainees learn from industry experts and contribute to projects with real-world impact, working on digital technologies and energy management systems for electrical networks. The program includes mentorship and collaboration with subject matter experts and engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Support the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of power applications and related functions.
• Analyze power application performance and identify issues to ensure reliable operation.
• Work with internal teams and customers to implement fixes, enhancements and improvements.
• Create and maintain databases, displays and related configurations.
• Tune power applications to improve performance, stability and user experience.
• Provide technical support, documentation and training when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Electromechanical, Control and Instrumentation, Power Systems Engineering or a related field.
• Fresh graduate or up to 2 years of experience.
• Knowledge of the power system domain, ideally within the renewable energy sector.
• Commitment to full-time work during the traineeship and legal right to work in KSA without company sponsorship.
• Based in Saudi Arabia and willing to travel if needed; ability to register with the Saudi Engineering Council is desired.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of power systems, distribution networks and renewable energy technologies.
• Computer science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures and complexity analysis.
• Experience with at least one modern language such as Java, Python, C++ or C# including object-oriented design.
• Prior intern experience in software, electrical engineering, power systems or a related area is desired.
• Strong analytical and technical skills, software industry standards and development tools, and excellent written and verbal English.
