Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Offshore)

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer with extensive experience in offshore substation, transmission and distribution system design for the oil & gas, hydrocarbon and infrastructure sectors. The role involves leading a large multidisciplinary team and delivering concept, FEED and detailed engineering for medium to large scale projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 10‑20 electrical engineers and designers.
• Develop discipline work plans and prepare work‑hour estimates.
• Perform and review electrical system studies using tools such as ETAP.
• Size electrical equipment, define specifications and conduct power system analyses.
• Ensure design integrity, on‑schedule delivery and budget compliance.
• Provide technical leadership to project teams and clients, including delivering presentations.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in oil & gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore or infrastructure projects.
• Proven leadership of large engineering teams.
• Experience in conceptual, FEED and detailed engineering of medium to large projects.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of electrical design and construction practices.
• Strong familiarity with industry codes and standards: IEEE, NFPA, API, IEC, ANSI/NEMA.
• Deep understanding of electrical power systems, protection philosophy and protection device coordination.
• Proficiency with ETAP for power system studies.
• Knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards (advantageous).
