Printing Technician – Large‑Format & Specialty Prints

About the role

The Printing Technician will operate, maintain and ensure high‑quality output of large‑format and specialty printers used for event graphics, signage and fabric wraps. Working closely with design and fabrication teams, the role guarantees that printed assets match colour specifications and integrate seamlessly with physical builds.

Key responsibilities

• Operate large‑format inkjet printers (UV, solvent, latex) to produce banners, backdrops, wallpapers and fabric prints.
• Prepare print‑ready files using RIP software, manage colour profiles, bleed and resolution settings.
• Calibrate printers and perform colour proofing to match Pantone/CMYK artwork.
• Select appropriate media (vinyl, fabric, canvas, mesh, backlit film) based on application requirements.
• Cut, laminate, mount and finish printed materials; operate cutting plotters and laminators.
• Inspect outputs for colour accuracy, banding, registration errors and surface defects.
• Perform routine maintenance (head cleaning, ink checks) and coordinate service for breakdowns.
• Manage inventory of media rolls, inks and finishing supplies.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 + years experience operating large‑format printing equipment in events, signage or visual communications.
• Proficiency with major RIP software such as Caldera, Onyx or ErgoSoft.
• Strong colour‑management expertise, including ICC profile creation and Pantone matching.
• Hands‑on experience with UV, latex and solvent printing platforms.
