Process Operator

About the role

The Process Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining plant equipment to meet production targets safely, cost‑effectively and reliably. The role supports day‑to‑day operating plans, quality objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Operate plant equipment safely in line with SOPs, EHS policies and quality standards.
• Monitor process variables such as flow, temperature and pressure, and record routine readings.
• Perform basic frontline maintenance, process sampling and testing.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and assist during mechanical, maintenance and turnaround activities.
• Prepare equipment and work areas for maintenance, follow weekly PM/CM schedules and conduct Job Safety Analyses.
• Communicate continuously with shift leader and head operator regarding activities and status.
• Identify hazards, apply risk controls and contribute to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Diploma (or equivalent) with at least 2 years of operational experience in an industrial setting.
• Ability to read, analyse and interpret technical procedures, regulations and business documents.
• Strong written communication skills for reports, correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Capable of presenting information and answering questions to managers, clients and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Operation of flow meters, temperature gauges and pressure gauges.
• Basic frontline maintenance and equipment preparation.
• Process sampling and testing techniques.
• Troubleshooting of process upsets.
• Hazard identification and mitigation.
• Implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
