Process Safety Lead Engineer

About the role

The Process Safety Lead Engineer will be the technical cornerstone of safety for NEOM Green Hydrogen Company’s hydrogen and ammonia facilities. Reporting to operations, the role drives the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a robust Process Safety Management System.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all safety initiatives for industrial processes, ensuring compliance with legal and industry standards during design, construction and operation.
• Provide expert guidance on hydrogen and ammonia safety chemistry, including embrittlement, cryogenic storage and toxic dispersion.
• Develop and deliver process safety training for engineers and operational staff.
• Own Management of Change (MOC) and oversee Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) lifecycle to meet SIL targets.
• Conduct hazardous area classification, gas dispersion modelling, process hazard reviews, LOPA, HAZOP, HAZID and quantitative risk assessments.
• Lead root‑cause analysis investigations and apply human performance principles to improve safety.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with experience in process and process safety engineering.
• Proven ability to manage contractors and coordinate multi‑disciplinary project teams.
