Protection Engineer – Excitation Systems (Dammam, Saudi Arabia)

About the role

As a Protection Engineer you will be responsible for the reliability and performance of excitation systems and static frequency converters (SFC) at power generation sites in Dammam. You will work on‑site, performing inspections, maintenance and upgrades while supporting customers and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspections, preventive maintenance and system upgrades for excitation systems and SFC.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software technical issues.
• Provide technical support and training to customers on operation and maintenance best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to develop and implement effective solutions.
• Prepare detailed service reports and documentation for internal and customer use.
• Ensure compliance with Siemens Energy and customer safety standards at all times.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of field service experience with excitation systems or power‑generation equipment.
• Proven experience in installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance of excitation systems.
• Strong knowledge of control systems and power‑plant operations.
• Ability to work independently in the field with strong problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills focused on customer satisfaction.
