QA/QC Engineer – Steam Turbine & Generator Services

About the role

Ensure that all steam turbine and generator maintenance, overhaul, repair, installation, commissioning, and field service activities meet contract requirements, industry standards, OEM specifications, quality management systems, and customer expectations. The QA/QC Engineer implements quality control processes, conducts inspections, manages non‑conformities, and drives continuous improvement to achieve zero‑defect execution and high customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the ISO 9001‑based Quality Management System, develop Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and Method Statements.
• Perform and coordinate inspections during dismantling, repair, assembly, alignment, and commissioning of turbines and generators, verifying dimensions, clearances, tolerances and technical parameters.
• Review and approve inspection reports, checklists, measurement records and ensure calibration of testing equipment.
• Identify, document and investigate quality issues, raise Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs), conduct root‑cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Support internal and external audits, act as the quality focal point for customers, coordinate with vendors/sub‑contractors, and maintain complete quality records and KPI dashboards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years of QA/QC experience in steam turbine services, generator services, power‑plant or rotating‑equipment maintenance.
• Hands‑on knowledge of steam turbine construction, rotor/blade inspection, bearing systems, turbine alignment and generator electrical testing.
• Familiarity with major OEMs such as Siemens Energy, GE, Mitsubishi, Ansaldo, Toshiba or Alstom.

Required skills

• ISO 9001 Quality Management System implementation.
• Development and execution of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality audits.
• Root‑cause analysis techniques (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA) and statistical process control.
• Non‑Destructive Testing methods: Visual (VT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Liquid Penetrant (PT), Ultrasonic (UT), Eddy Current (ET).
• Precision measurement tools: micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, laser alignment systems.
• Certifications (preferred): ISO 9001 Internal/Lead Auditor, ASNT Level II NDT, Six Sigma Green Belt, API Q1.
