Safety Officer

About the role

The Safety Officer will monitor daily CCTV inspections and sewer‑cleaning activities, ensuring that all site work complies with Saudi regulations, National Water Company (NWC) HSE requirements, the approved Project HSE Plan, and company procedures. The role requires prompt identification of hazards and reporting of unsafe acts and conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Support the QHSE Manager in implementing the Project HSE Plan and provide continuous safety coverage for field teams.
• Promote safe work practices and a positive safety culture among employees and subcontractors.
• Monitor compliance with company, client, and regulatory HSE requirements; identify hazards and ensure immediate corrective action.
• Coordinate daily safety requirements with supervisors, operators, drivers, and field crews.
• Conduct pre‑work and continuous site inspections, verify risk assessments, JSA, toolbox talks, and valid permits to work before work starts.
• Ensure proper use of PPE, installation of barricades, warning signs, lighting, housekeeping, and traffic‑control arrangements.
• Monitor high‑risk activities such as manhole opening, confined‑space entry, atmospheric gas testing, lifting operations, jetting, generator use, and vehicle movement.
• Inspect tools, equipment, gas detectors, lifting accessories, vehicles, fire extinguishers, first‑aid kits, and emergency equipment before use.
• Report incidents, near‑misses, hazards, and environmental observations immediately and assist in investigations.
• Maintain daily inspection checklists, toolbox‑talk records, PTW records, observation reports, and corrective‑action logs.

Required profile

• Higher Diploma from a recognized institution.
• Internationally recognized HSE certification (OSHA or NEBOSH).
• Minimum of 5 years of general HSE experience, preferably in utilities or construction.
