Senior Backend Engineer – AI Applications & OpenShift

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and enhance AI‑enabled enterprise applications in a secure industrial environment. The role focuses on building robust backend services, APIs, real‑time data integration and containerised deployment on OpenShift/Kubernetes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain secure backend services and RESTful APIs for web applications.
• Implement reporting, dashboards, notifications, user workflows, admin functions and AI/ML integration.
• Integrate applications with enterprise data sources, operational platforms, document repositories and existing backend systems.
• Support real‑time data flows using APIs, WebSockets, Server‑Sent Events or message queues.
• Troubleshoot integration, configuration, compatibility and deployment issues.
• Collaborate with AI/data teams to embed model outputs, analytics, RAG/LLM services and monitoring components.
• Deploy containerised applications using Docker and OpenShift/Kubernetes, manage CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Maintain application logging, monitoring, patch releases, performance tuning and production stabilisation.
• Apply secure coding practices, address security scan findings and produce technical documentation.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in full‑stack or backend‑focused enterprise application development.
• Strong expertise in backend frameworks such as Node.js, Java/Spring Boot, Python/FastAPI or Django.
• Proven ability to design and document RESTful APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git/Bitbucket, Docker and OpenShift/Kubernetes.
