Senior Backend Engineer, Core APIs (SRE Focus)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer focused on Core APIs with a strong Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) mindset. The role is fully remote and involves building highly performant, reliable backend services that process real‑time data at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise backend services and APIs for real‑time data processing, balancing latency, scalability and cost.
• Define and own SLIs, SLOs and error budgets, using reliability metrics to guide engineering decisions.
• Implement observability solutions including metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing and alerting dashboards.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation, respond to incidents, conduct blameless post‑mortems and drive continuous improvement.
• Automate operational tasks, reduce toil and prevent recurring failures.
• Perform capacity planning, load testing and performance tuning to ensure systems scale with demand.
• Mentor team members and contribute to engineering standards in a globally distributed team.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience in backend development and SRE.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Experience with designing, operating and scaling distributed systems.
