Senior Backend Engineer - Node.js & AWS (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Node.js and AWS to join a high‑traffic platform on a contract basis. The role is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver low‑latency, cloud‑native services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy Node.js micro‑services using AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS and CloudFormation.
• Optimize backend systems for performance, scalability and reliability.
• Develop and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs with a strong focus on security and efficiency.
• Lead architectural decisions for cloud infrastructure and manage container orchestration with Docker, Kubernetes or ECS.
• Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code using Terraform.
• Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues and continuously improve service reliability.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience developing backend services with Node.js.
• Proven experience designing and operating production‑grade systems on AWS.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed team environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a commitment to code quality and best practices.
