Senior Cytotechnologist

About the role

The Senior Cytotechnologist will work in the Anatomic Pathology section of King Faisal Specialist Hospital, performing and evaluating cytochemical, microscopic, and immunological procedures to support accurate disease diagnosis and treatment. The role involves close collaboration with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure high‑quality specimen analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, stain, and mount microscopic slides from various specimens, ensuring optimal preservation and visibility of cellular details.
• Examine slides under the microscope to identify cellular abnormalities, hormonal disorders, and other pathological conditions, and report findings to the pathologist.
• Assist in fine‑needle aspiration (FNA) procedures, evaluating specimen adequacy from endoscopic, ultrasound, or CT‑guided collections.
• Maintain quality control and participate in quality assurance programs, investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions.
• Support laboratory safety, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and development of new methodologies.

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
• Minimum two years of related experience with a Master's (or four years with a Bachelor's); senior‑level experience preferred.
• Current registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and certification as a Cytotechnologist (e.g., CT(ASCP), CT(IAC), AIMLS, etc.).
• Consistently high performance appraisals (average ≥3.5) and at least 100 hours of continuing medical education.
