Senior Design Researcher - User Science

About the role

Canonical is seeking a Senior Design Researcher to join its newly formed User Science team. Working remotely within the EMEA region, you will help embed user‑centered research across product development and drive a data‑informed culture.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and synthesize user research using interviews, surveys, usability testing and quantitative methodologies.
• Develop and share clear research insights and documentation tailored to product, process and engineering teams.
• Integrate research findings into decision‑making flows and champion user needs throughout the organization.
• Own research operations infrastructure, making methods accessible, actionable and repeatable.
• Contribute to the evolution of the User Science discipline through training, resource creation and community outreach.

Required profile

• Exceptional academic record, with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Proven experience in senior‑level design or user research roles.
• Strong ability to advocate for users and influence cross‑functional teams.
