Senior Fire Protection Engineer

About the role

Egis, an international engineering, consulting and construction firm operating in the Middle East, is hiring a Senior Fire Protection Engineer in Riyadh. The role centres on the technical review and compliance verification of fire protection system designs, including drawings, design reports, calculations, specifications, models and supporting documentation, against fire codes, standards and Saudi Civil Defence requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Review fire protection and firefighting design submissions at concept, schematic, detailed design and shop drawing stages.
• Review drawings, specifications, design calculations, equipment schedules, technical reports and supporting documentation.
• Review the design and adequacy of automatic sprinkler systems, fire hose reel systems, fire hydrants and wet/dry risers, fire pumps and pump rooms, water storage tanks, foam-based, water mist, clean-agent, pre-action and deluge systems, kitchen hood suppression systems and other special-hazard systems.
• Check system zoning, hydraulic demand, water supply, equipment arrangement and system interfaces.
• Verify that design calculations and equipment selections match the proposed fire protection strategy and applicable requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or a related discipline.
• NFPA professional certification (CFPS and CWBSP).
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in fire protection and firefighting system design and/or technical design review.
• At least 5-7 years of experience in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with strong knowledge of local Civil Defence requirements, codes, standards and approval processes.
• Demonstrated experience reviewing fire protection and alternative fire suppression designs for code compliance and authority approval.
