Senior Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment (KSA)

About the role

Penspen, a global energy services company, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specialized in rotating equipment for a major Front‑End Engineering Design (FEED) project. The position is based in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia and will involve work across FEED, detailed design and EPC phases.

Key responsibilities

• Lead rotating equipment engineering activities for FEED, detailed design and EPC phases of oil & gas projects.
• Develop data sheets, specifications and requisitions for compressors, pumps, turbines, blowers and packaged systems.
• Review vendor offers, perform technical bid evaluations and participate in vendor meetings and design reviews.
• Ensure compliance with API, ASME, ISO and other relevant international standards.
• Coordinate with process, piping, instrumentation and electrical disciplines for equipment integration.
• Review vendor documents (GA drawings, datasheets, performance curves) and ensure timely approval.
• Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning.
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL and design review workshops.
• Mentor junior engineers and review their deliverables for quality and accuracy.
• Support client and internal audits and ensure adherence to project quality and safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 12+ years of experience in the oil & gas sector.
• At least 8 years of experience in mechanical rotating equipment for major oil & gas or petrochemical projects.
• Exposure to projects at construction and commissioning phases.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Familiarity with Saudi Aramco standards and experience in major brownfield FEED/EPC projects is an advantage.

Required skills
