Senior Oracle Database Administrator

About the role

Avensys, a global IT professional services firm, is looking for an experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator to manage mission‑critical Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments. The role involves end‑to‑end database administration, performance tuning, high‑availability, and disaster‑recovery support for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, patch and maintain Oracle and SQL Server databases.
• Perform routine DBA tasks: user/role management, tablespace, datafile, schema and index administration.
• Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks and execute SQL/query tuning.
• Manage Oracle RMAN backup/recovery, Data Pump operations and SQL Server backup/restore.
• Implement and support Oracle Data Guard, RAC and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Administer SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, Log Shipping and Database Mirroring.
• Handle database upgrades, migrations, patching, refreshes, cloning and environment synchronization.
• Monitor health, capacity, sessions, locks, jobs and alerts; proactively resolve issues.
• Respond to production incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis and manage changes per SLA.
• Enforce database security, access controls, auditing and compliance standards.
• Develop and maintain monitoring, maintenance, backup and recovery procedures.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, development and cloud teams.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and DR runbooks.

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands‑on DBA experience in both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Proven track record in production support, performance tuning, backup/recovery, high‑availability and disaster‑recovery.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work under defined SLAs.
