Senior Procurement Engineer

About the role

The Senior Procurement Engineer leads the procurement execution of major and complex construction packages, ensuring cost‑effective, compliant, and timely sourcing of materials and subcontract works. This role owns assigned packages, drives technical and commercial evaluations, and coordinates across project teams to support successful delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end procurement execution for assigned major and complex packages, from RFQ issuance through award recommendation and execution support.
• Take ownership of procurement packages, aligning them with the approved project schedule, budget, and technical requirements.
• Coordinate and prioritize procurement activities across multiple projects or large‑scale packages.
• Act as the primary procurement interface with key suppliers and subcontractors, supporting pre‑qualification, assessment, and performance review.
• Proactively manage procurement‑related risks and monitor supplier performance, escalating non‑performance as needed.
• Lead technical and commercial evaluations in collaboration with engineering and project teams, verify evaluation reports, and conduct negotiations within delegated authority.
• Prepare and finalize Purchase Orders and Subcontract Agreements, ensuring contractual clarity, compliance, and audit‑ready documentation.
• Guide and review the work of Procurement Engineers and junior staff, and coordinate closely with engineering, planning, site, QS, contracts, and finance teams.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of construction materials, systems, and subcontract scopes for complex projects.
• Ability to assess technical compliance, interfaces, and constructability impacts in coordination with engineering teams.
• Experience with long‑lead and specialist items such as façade works, specialist finishes, and high‑spec systems.
• Proven ability to independently manage complex procurement packages within approved procedures and delegated authority.
• Strong commercial judgment and negotiation capability.
• Solid understanding of subcontract and purchase order contractual terms.
