Senior Programme Management Officer - Saudi Environment Sustainability Programme

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is recruiting a Senior Programme Management Officer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The incumbent leads the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Saudi environment sustainability programme and supports the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in strengthening environment governance and policy development. The post reports to the Regional Director of UNEP/ROWA.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the UNEP Strategic Cooperation Programme with Saudi Arabia, direct project personnel and lead in-country missions
• Serve as UNEP liaison with Saudi Government officials and the UN system in Saudi Arabia
• Direct research and programme evaluation, coordinate environment policy development and undertake surveys and data collection
• Identify environmental priorities, propose policy options and guide external consultants and partners
• Prepare policy briefings, present at meetings and conferences, manage outreach and design and run training workshops
• Supervise the preparation of reports, studies and publications and clear consultant and partner outputs
• Ensure gender mainstreaming in planned actions and coordinate budget and funding, including progress and financial reports
• Guide, evaluate and mentor staff, and lead data collection and analysis

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, environment or a related field; alternatively a first-level degree plus two years of qualifying experience
• Successful completion of data analytics, business analytics or data science programmes is mentioned as part of the requirements
