Senior Safety Officer - Oil & Gas

About the role

The Senior Safety Officer at ABIS ensures the highest safety standards and compliance within oil and gas operations. The role covers implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, monitoring safety procedures and leading safety training, while working closely with project teams, contractors and regulatory bodies to promote a safe working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures and programs for shutdowns and turnarounds in the oil and gas industry.
• Carry out site inspections, risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Deliver safety training and awareness programs to employees and contractors.
• Maintain accurate safety records and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.
• Advise management on safety matters and take part in emergency response planning.
• Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in safety roles within the oil and gas industry.
• Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in high-pressure environments and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of industry safety standards, regulations and best practices.
• Certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA or equivalent are highly desirable.
