Senior Traffic and Detour Engineer (PMC)

About the role

ARX is expanding its presence in the Middle East and seeks a Senior Traffic and Detour Engineer for its Riyadh project site. The role involves leading the PMC’s technical review of traffic engineering designs, temporary traffic management plans, and road diversion proposals to ensure safety, compliance, and minimal disruption during construction.

Key responsibilities

• Review and provide technical recommendations on traffic studies, impact assessments, temporary traffic management plans, and detour designs submitted by consultants and contractors.
• Assess diversion alignments, junction layouts, lane configurations, signage, barriers, lighting, and provisions for pedestrians and cyclists.
• Verify that proposed arrangements maintain safe access for residents, businesses, public transport, emergency services, and construction activities.
• Coordinate reviews with highway, utilities, structural, construction, and health‑and‑safety teams to resolve design interfaces.
• Liaise with clients, road authorities, traffic police, consultants, and contractors to support permits, approvals, and implementation planning.
• Conduct site inspections before and after diversion implementation and monitor traffic performance during construction.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in traffic engineering, road design, temporary traffic management and diversion planning.
• Previous experience in a PMC, supervision consultancy or client‑representative role.
• Professional engineering registration or chartered status preferred.
• Familiarity with local road authority requirements and regional standards.
