Senior Translator (Arabic-English)

About the role

CAA Portas, a division of Creative Artists Agency (CAA) focused on sport, is hiring a Senior Translator in Riyadh. The role translates business content such as presentations, proposals, spreadsheets, market studies and documents between Arabic and English, combining hands-on translation with quality assurance, glossary and style-guide work, and team leadership when deputising for the Translation Team Leader.

Key responsibilities

• Translate texts across formats (presentations, spreadsheets, Word and PDF) between Arabic and English.
• Assess documents, estimate word counts, give delivery timelines and respond promptly to email requests.
• Proofread, review and format translations, keeping consistent terminology across the team.
• Maintain a CAA Portas glossary of frequently used terms and contribute to a style guide.
• Format shapes and align graphics for Arabic layout, and convert hard-to-edit files (PDFs, images) into editable formats.
• Use dictionaries and language platforms to improve accuracy, and share feedback with clients on process, style and terminology.
• Lead and support the team in the Team Leader's absence, revising, reviewing and assigning work.

Required profile

• Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English, with an advanced command of formal and creative Arabic.
• Prior experience in a leading consulting firm, with strong PowerPoint skills and knowledge of consulting presentation standards.
• Bachelor's degree in English Language, Linguistics, Translation Studies or equivalent.
• 4+ years of experience in translation, reviewing and localisation, including in a business or consulting context.
• Desired: knowledge of business and legal terminology in the Saudi and UAE markets, and experience managing internal stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced CAT tools such as Phrase, SDL Trados or memoQ.
• Machine translation post-editing (light and full), with assessment of MT output.
• Advanced Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, with Arabic layout.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to handle several tasks under tight deadlines and good IT skills.
