Senior Transportation Engineer

About the role

HDR is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to deliver comprehensive transportation engineering services for transit, highway, and municipal clients. You will lead corridor studies, forecasting, traffic analysis, and transportation planning while ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide transportation engineering services for transit agencies, state departments, cities, and counties.
• Lead corridor studies, forecast modeling, traffic analysis, and impact fee development.
• Collect and manage project data, including research, agency interviews, map reviews, land‑use surveys, and socioeconomic analysis.
• Prepare constraints mapping and technical documents such as categorical exclusions, environmental assessments, and impact studies.
• Support and participate in public information meetings and hearings.
• Perform additional duties as required to support project delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in transportation planning.
• Excellent analytical and communication abilities.
• Strong understanding of transit planning principles.
• Positive attitude with the ability to work independently or within a team.
• Proven capability to manage multiple projects and personnel.
• Business development experience and strong client presentation skills.
