Shift Charge Engineer

About the role

The Shift Charge Engineer is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operation of a combined‑cycle power plant, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient generation that meets contractual obligations. Reporting to plant management, you will lead the operations team during your shift and act as the primary point of contact for any operational issues.

Key responsibilities

• Manage real‑time operation of gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs and auxiliary systems, keeping output within design parameters and PPA requirements.
• Lead, mentor and supervise the shift crew, promoting safety, reliability and accountability.
• Monitor plant control systems, track KPIs and generate detailed shift reports, including incidents and performance deviations.
• Ensure compliance with the Power Purchase Agreement, environmental regulations and internal standards.
• Coordinate emergency response, troubleshoot equipment failures and work closely with maintenance and engineering teams.
• Collaborate with support departments (electrical, instrumentation) to resolve operational challenges.
• Identify and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and best practices.
• Maintain accurate logs, safety checks and compliance documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Relevant certifications in power‑plant operation or management (preferred).
• Approximately 8 years of experience in power‑plant operations, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
