Shift Engineer

About the role

The Shift Engineer ensures the safe and efficient operation of all engineering and maintenance systems during assigned shifts at an Accor hotel in Makkah. You will monitor building services, respond to guest and staff requests, and coordinate corrective actions to maintain high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing and other engineering systems throughout the shift.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, equipment breakdowns and urgent engineering issues.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and coordinate corrective maintenance to resolve technical problems.
• Conduct regular inspections of plant rooms, guest rooms, public areas and back‑of‑house spaces.
• Support preventive maintenance programmes and ensure scheduled tasks are completed.
• Report abnormal conditions, failures or safety concerns to Engineering management.
• Coordinate with other hotel departments to address maintenance needs and operational requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, inspections and shift handovers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates are welcome.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and night shifts.
• Highly motivated, responsible and eager to develop within hotel engineering.

Required skills

• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities for building equipment.
• Understanding of engineering safety procedures and HSE requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Good command of English; Arabic is an advantage.
