Software Engineer, Backend - Core/API & Process Automation

About the role

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design and enhance the core systems that power next‑generation business process automation. The role focuses on building reliable, high‑performance backend services that support distributed workflow execution at global scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and evolve backend features within event‑sourced workflow engines and APIs for enterprise automation.
• Contribute to technical designs and architecture decisions, ensuring clean, scalable and backward‑compatible APIs.
• Address distributed‑system challenges such as event sourcing, CQRS, concurrency, ordering and reliability.
• Identify and optimise inefficient processing patterns and data access across multiple storage technologies.
• Implement observability practices including logging, metrics, tracing and monitoring.
• Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews, testing, documentation and continuous improvement.
• Participate in production support, on‑call duties and technical debt remediation.
• Collaborate with a remote‑first, asynchronous engineering team.

Required profile

• Professional experience in backend engineering with a strong interest in distributed systems and event‑driven architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of complex technical problems and deliver high‑quality software.
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
