Solar Design Engineer

About the role

GREENER by IHCC is looking for a Solar Design Engineer to lead the electrical and mechanical design of on‑grid, off‑grid and hybrid solar PV projects, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for commercial‑industrial and utility‑scale installations.

The role involves delivering complete design packages, performing simulations, and supporting interconnection applications in Saudi Arabia.

Key responsibilities

• Design on‑grid, off‑grid and hybrid Solar PV + BESS systems for C&I and utility‑scale projects.
• Perform energy yield simulations, shading analysis and loss calculations using PVsyst, Helioscope and PVsol.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, single‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams, planimetry and string layouts in AutoCAD.
• Conduct electrical and battery sizing calculations, including cable sizing, voltage drop, short‑circuit analysis, protection coordination and battery autonomy.
• Prepare technical reports, BOQs, material specifications and full project documentation.
• Submit design and material submittals and respond to consultant and utility comments.
• Support SEC/WERA (Shamsi) interconnection applications and coordinate with utilities.
• Carry out site surveys, data collection and technical feasibility studies.
• Provide technical support to installation teams and assist with testing and commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in solar PV system design, including on‑grid, off‑grid and hybrid projects with BESS.
• Experience on commercial‑industrial and utility‑scale projects in KSA/GCC.
• Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) registration or membership is mandatory.
• Strong English communication and technical documentation skills.
• Arabic language skills are a plus.
